Today on Battlefield Nevada, Political Reporter Rob Lauer sat down with Tommy White, business manager for Laborers Local Union 872. With over 3,200 members they have real political muscle in the state, and they are flexing it today. Mr. White announced that his Union is pulling support from numerous Democrats across Clark County and supporting Republican State Senators, State Assemblymen and candidates. Mr. White commented about Sean Lyttle who was video taped at an event bashing the stadium deal. Mr. White said his Union is withdrawing their endorsement of Mr. Lyttle and other Democrats in favor of Republicans. The Union, which has historically been a Democratic powerhouse, is openly supporting John Hambrick, Paul Anderson, Derrick Armstrong, Brent Jones, and several others.
Laborers Local Union 872 isn’t the only union pulling its support from Democrats. The Carpenter’s Union is also pulling their support from Democrats who refused to support the Stadium. This shift could actually be a turning point in helping the Republicans retain their control over the State Legislature, with early voting set to start tomorrow.
