GOVERNOR SANDOVAL SIGNS SB1, THE RAIDERS STADIUM BILL
Today Governor Sandoval signed SB1, which the State Legislature passed last week in the special session, to fund the proposed Raiders Football stadium. The bill was passed in a special session because the annual NFL owners meeting is set for tomorrow in Texas, to approve the new stadium, according to Republican consultant Robert Uithoven.
Governor Sandoval was joined by several state legislators as well as the Raiders Owner Mark Davis, along with Steve Wynn. Several unions were also on hand to show their support, many of whom have openly pulled support from Democrats in Assembly Districts where Republican legislators voted for the Stadium.
NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS was on hand for the bill signing.
Many republicans originally held out in the special session for Education Savings Accounts but gave in to pressure. Several Republicans claimed, in private, that Governor Sandoval promised to push hard for ESA’s and may look for a way to fund them before the election. But when NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS asked Governor Sandoval, today at the bill signing, to confirm his support for ESA’s, he refused to answer any questions regarding his intentions. Assemblyman Brent Jones did make it clear he was upset with the lack of action in the special session on ESA’s but did ultimately support the Raiders Stadium bill.
