NYE COUNTY COMMIS WHO WARNED OF HIS OWN MURDER SUED BY BROTHEL OWNER DENNIS HOF FOR SLANDER

December 31, 2017

Nye County, business owner Dennis Hof filed a slander and defamation lawsuit on Friday, December 29, 2017, against Nye County Commissioner Andrew Borasky who said publically that he “had a gut feeling” that the three named plaintiffs, including Dennis Hof, “had his number”. And that “If my life is taken away from me, it would have been one of the three.”

Nye County Commissioner Borasky made the alleged defamatory statements at the November 28, 2017, county commission regular meeting. Hof’s lawsuit states that Borasky was not protected by immunity normally provided to public officials during open public hearing forums from defamation lawsuits because the statements were made with hatred and after the public business was completed. This lawsuit will test whether public officials have complete immunity during the session even when they say outrageous statements.

Dennis Hof said, “It’s a sad day in Nye County when the chairman of the Republican Party, a husband of the city and county commissioner and a businessman of 42 years in Nevada has to defend themselves from statements made on the record by a county commissioner at a meeting.”
