NEVADA WILDLIFE OFFICIALS TELL SUN CITY SUMMERLIN RESIDENTS LIVE WITH IT, AFTER SEVERAL PETS WERE KILLED BY COYOTES

September 17, 2106

Sun City Summerlin residents have been under siege by coyotes that are killing pets and threatening the safety of surrounding neighborhoods. The problem started when Nevada Department of WildLife Officials moved coyote traps back from 100 yards from schools and neighborhoods to a 1/2  mile away. And to make matters worse, according to residents, they were told by Officials that it’s illegal to shoot coyotes on their own properties.

Democratic Nominee and attorney Sean Lyttle, running for District 37, said:

“The law forbids shooting coyotes on private property, even if they are threatening family pets. Residents should call animal control rather than discharge their firearm. Coyotes are just something we need to live with here in the Desert.”

The Republican Nominee running for District 37, Jim Marchant, responded to Lyttle’s comments:

The Nevada Department of Wild Life needs to put residents’ safety first and move the traps back to where there worked and stop the politically correct nonsense. Every Nevadan has the fundamental right to protect their pets, to protect their children, to protect their homes and to protect their lives. If a coyote comes on my property and threatens my dog or family, be assured I will protect them. ”

Officials at the Nevada Department of Wildlife said Mr Lyttle was incorrect about the law. If you, your family, or your pet are threatened by a coyote, you have every right to protect yourselves.

According to wildlife officials, Coyotes can be hunted, with a license, year-round.
