NEVADA RINOS POSE A NEW THREAT IN THE UPCOMING LEGISLATURE SESSION

January 16, 2017

As the 2017 Nevada legislative session is about to start, Governor Sandoval is set to give his last State of the State speech tomorrow in Carson City.  We need to keep a close eye on King RINO or Sandoval and the 6 or 7 RINOs in the State Assembly. The Democrats are never happy with what they have. After getting the biggest tax increase in the history of the state just 2 years ago, they want more of your money. Bit by bit they take more of your money along with your personal financial power.

Democrats are going to push hard to remove the property tax cap put in place twelve years ago. Assembly Bill 489 was signed into law on April 6, 2005 and provides a partial abatement of taxes by applying a 3% cap on the tax bill of the owners primary residence and a higher cap on the tax bill of rental properties.

All the Democrats need in the State Assembly is one Republican to flip to get the 2/3 required super majority for it to pass. Then its off to the Governor’s office. Sandoval has recently promised to fund ESA’s. According to sources, he may strike a deal with Democrats to remove the property tax cap in return for money for ESA’s. Many Conservative Republicans in the State legislature may find themselves having to choose between property tax increases and ESA’s. If the Democrats get 2/3’s of the State legislature to vote for the property tax increase they do not need Governor Sandoval’s signature. But no Republicans will vote for the tax increase without Sandoval’s tacit support. Sandoval still has enough pull to hold the line if he chooses to oppose the property tax increase.

Assemblyman Jim Wheeler said “We will hold the line, but I don’t know what the Governor will do.”

NEWSMAXTV LAS VEGAS reached out to the Governor’s office but did not get any response today because the office is closed for the MLK Holiday. We will update this story if we get a response from Sandoval’s press office tomorrow.

Now is the time to call your State Assemblyman, State Senator and the Governor to demand they hold the line on property taxes.
